I am a long time admirer and consumer of all things nail polish. Be it an Indie colour or a household brand, I've spent countless hours scouring the Internet for the perfect colour to add to my collection. It was only a matter of time before I started mixing my own colours.
In the brief time I've spent in the world, I have had the opportunity to experience a lot of diversity and travel to various countries. I love interaction within diversity and what really excited me about the prospect of creating my own polish, was portraying that interaction and diversity in unique colors and glitters.
I feel that in the world of mass fashion, we as consumers are often force-fed fashion that doesn't always reflect our desires. Designers are producing and selling fashion that they feel best reflects their image. Our image, as a consumer, is often lost in the translation.
My main purpose in creating my own polish and cosmetics brand, was to produce something that I, as a consumer, have felt is missing. I hope to bring unique and personalized fashion back into the polish market, as well as a level of quality and care that is often lost in big corporations as they do what they can to cut costs.
I can't promise we won't make mistakes; all I can promise are intentions and firm beliefs that you will see manifested in actions. I could ramble on for pages about all my intentions and beliefs, so let me bullet point a few of them.
I have discovered that diamond dust lends polish a special and unique shimmer, as well as encourages chip resistance and polish longevity. Keeping that in mind, I intend to use it in all my polishes, with minor exceptions (sheer glitter toppers, base, and top coats).
I do not intend to ever use polish that contains the "Toxic 3", which are dibutyl phthalate, toluene, and formaldehyde. These toxins have been linked to asthma and cancer, among other things, and that's a risk no one should have to consider taking when prettying up their nails.
I will not ever test any of my products on animals, nor do I intend to use ingredients that have been tested on animals. There is absolutely no need to use animals as testers for cosmetics (or anything else for that matter), and I find it tragic that it's still being done, despite other options.
BG Cosmetics is still a small company. We don't have a big factory or a big warehouse. I make, press, and hand pour every single container of eyeshadow, every jar of cuticle balm, and every bottle of nail lacquer. But being a small company is no excuse for a lack of professionalism. Every day I strive to find small ways to reflect our goals in every little detail, even down to the labels and the packaging. I keep an exact record of every ingredient in every formula. Every polish has its own unique recipe so that every "batch" can be exactly replicated.
I don't believe people should have to wait days on end for me to get more supplies because I ran out, nor for me to find a convenient time to mail out orders that have been placed. Calculating inventory is one of the first steps at running a successful business, whether you own one or manage one for someone else. I don't believe you should have to wait for restocks, and I will do everything in my power to make sure that everything I create is available 24/7 until it is retired.
I make it a point to ship all orders the very next day; orders placed before noon will be shipped the same day. (excluding Saturdays and Sundays, although if the office were open, I'd be shipping then too!) Preparation is key to a successful business, and I consider it a priority to ensure you get your purchase as quickly as possible.
No matter how this company expands, these are policies that I intend to enforce, and even as it grows, you will always have a face behind the company; a company I stand behind and can sign my name to with pride.
